The Inspectorate participated, from 14 to 16 May, in the 46th annual meeting of ESARDA (European Safeguards Research and Development Association), the European Association for Research and Development in the field of nuclear safeguards.
Nuclear safeguards are the set of technical measures and checks that the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) applies on nuclear materials and technologies, in order to verify that they are exclusively intended for peaceful uses.

National Inventory of radioactive waste
The document, updated to December 31, 2018, is prepared on the basis of the data that annually the various operators, who are responsible for the primary responsibility for safely holding and managing the waste, transmit to the ISIN. Developed with data on volumes, masses, physical state, specific activity, radionuclide content and storage conditions, the National radioactive waste Inventory also includes spent fuel and disused sources.
